transmission noise
transmission noise
Got the half ton running and moved it tonight. Stuck one of the Cummins' batteries in it and cranked it a bit but it fired. Took right off, drove it about a half mile. But once it warmed up, reverse quit. It would whine and barely move. When it started that, it took a minute for it to engage when put in drive.

Sound like reverse is out, or is there hope a service could bring it back to life?

The whining and barely moving part has me thinking the converter is toast. Pull the pan and see if there is a lot of metal in it. Yes it has a band but I don't think that is a problem at this point.
I have to cut the exhaust to pull the pan. But there is a lot of "dirt" in the bottom, I was able to dump some old fluid, reached my fingers in and could feel it in there. Didn't pull any metal out on my fingers.
Was going to pull the inspection cover and check the flex plate as well.
Transmission guy in Kearney (NOT BumpGrind&Slip) thinks that a flush fluid and filter will make it work again.
