transfer case broke

Need some input guys......Was hauling wood today and the transfer case started clunking. It happened whe you let off the throttle, or went from reverse to 1st gear. Made it about 10 miles, came to a stop sign, let out on the clutch and it gave way. Doesn't matter what position you put the transfer case lever...it won't move. Any iseas? Gonna tear into it tomorrow.

It's quite possible that your transmission to transfer case coupler has failed.

i had the "power sleeve" fail way up in canada, did the same thing, had to replace the tcase input shaft, i left the rear trans seal out, now the trans oil keeps it well lubricated, the area between the cases normally is dry. standard transmission.com has parts, i have other resources if you want.

Maybe this is the first sign of a worn out coupler about to fail. I have read a lot of older threads on here about the vibrating transfer case shifter. Mine has never vibrated and the coupler still is tight on the shafts.

Sooty, if i tell you my secret, you can't laugh....hahaha
It happened saturday night, while i was cutting wood....and she cut loose. So i didn't have time to wait 3 days for parts. So my buddy (whos a welder by trade) and me decided to weld the sleeve to the input shaft on the t-case...... And Wala....like new....lol
