Trans. Hydraulic lines

Has anybody replaced their OEM transmission lines?

My factory mess is leaking where the mounting straps have worried holes in the tubing.

I'm dumb as dish water regarding the AN type of fittings. I do know that it's all cyphered in 1/16th of an inch increments. AN4 = 1/4 of an inch etc.

Anybody know right off the top of their head what size fittings are needed for the trans (goes'inna/goes'outta), cooler (goes'inna/goes'outta), and heater (goes'inna/goes'outta)?

Any particular things I should look out for?

What pressures are typically seen? Do I really need the Super Krypton coated Double'ought, Kevlar E rating with the Outer-Wears heat shield? Or will some heavy duty fiber reinforced hose work reliably?

Would anybody recommend a particular brand?

Thanks folks. (Truthfully, I don't feel like rooting around under my heap right now ).

the return line back into the trans is a 1/4NPT there is a reducer from the hard lines. at least it was on mine. i just added an aux cooler and got pre-made hydraulic lines (1/2 Male NPT on both ends) from tractor supply, MUCH cheaper that having the same lines made (which i alsmost did) hope this helps.

I do know you will need AN to NPT adaptors, since they use thier own thread/coupling.

I'm now running without the heat exchanger on the passenger side of the block, and with two fan-powered under-bed coolers in addition to the little cooler on top of the radiator.

Everything I've changed or added has -8 AN fittings. I like them. No leaks.

I haven't changed out the hoses connecting the little front cooler yet, but I will.

The heat exchanger uses -8 AN in and out for trans fluid.

The trans temp sender in the boss just outside the transmission is 1/2" NPT. I wouldn't change that steel tubing if I didn't have to.

The factory/dealer-added under-the-bed fan-powered cooler, called a Superduty cooler in their literature uses 3/8" barb connections; the heat sensor/sender in it is 1/2" NPT.

There's an "H"-shaped thing in the lines to/from the underbed cooler. In theory, cold oil cycles across the bar of the "H" due to high resistance in the cooler, but when warm the oil flows straight thru to the cooler and back. Again, 3/8" barb connections.

My gallery pictures are not up-to-date (don't show the second added cooler and the removal of the heat exchanger); I'll try to get them up next week.

I just use NAPA or Summit stock transmission hoses in -8 AN with the appropriate connections. I think the hose ratings are 250*, 250#.
