Too loud!!!
Well guys I need some more of your advise.
I was at a state park camping this last weekend, and of course the Game Warden showed up at my camp site and told me not to operate my truck after 10pm because it was too loud.
So what I am wondering if there is a way to make this truck quiter.
I am running it now with a 40 series Flowmaster with the exhaust shooting out just before the rear tire.
Dont really want to go back to stock...

Honestly I think most of the noise comes from engine clatter.
On the exhaust side though, you may search around for a "big honkin' muffler". I think Walker makes them. You may just need a bigger muffler. 40 series won't do much for quieting things down. Stacks give the impression of less noise because they shoot the noise straight up.

Magnaflow told me the longer the muffler the better, they suggested a 7" diameter 5" inlet/outlet and the overall length was 36". I only have 3" stock pipe before the 5" up out of the bed so that would not work for me. I did however find another one from them that was a 3" in/out and I think it was 6" diameter? also 36" long. Not sure how they sound, never went through with it. Oh yeah, they also said the bigger diameter is supposed to help as well.

I recently installed a Stan's 4" on mine, using the supplied Donaldson muffler. it's 38" tip to tip, 4" in/out, straight-thru design. It also flows 2100cfm @1 psi.
I believe Bank$ states their's flows about half that.
It really made me realize just how much under hood clatter there is... I love it!

you might try extending your pipe back beyond the rear tire. Mine is in the extact location, my 4 inch exhaust is louder then Alwaysworking with his 5 inch and i running a aero turbine muffler its about 18 inch long 4" inlet x 4" outlet http://www.aeroexhaust.com/diesel_muffler_4040.html

I'm running a 3" straight piped ext and if I'm easy on it, the eng make more noise then the exhaust.
When my tail pipe rusted out!!!!!!!!!!!!!THAT WAS LOUD!
I only lasted a couple of week before i had it in to the muffler shop to get a new one put back on..........Still have no muffler!
If you are going to have a muffler on......Make it a big and Huge muffler( no back pressure and quiet)

My 4" down pipe to 5" stack is quieter than the 3" strait pipe was. My last first gen was an 89' and I had a full 4" with cheap strait through muffler and it was nearly as quiet as the stock exhaust was. You may want to go the route of a 2nd gen 4" cat back with muffler. Warpspeedperformance.com has some high quality kits as cheap as I've seen them. I've used there kits a couple times with no problems.
