HAHAHA You should have seen her face. She said "A WHAT"? I said HOLD ON LOOK HERE. I searched and found a NICE first gen with a single stack coming out on the right side. She said I was nuts . Anyone elses wife give them a hard time for trying to put stacks on? If I do this I'm gonna part with the camper shell.

When I told my wife that I wanted dual stacks on my pickup, then showed her the pictures and videos I found here, she thought it was great. She can't wait for me to get them on, even though I am planning on spending about $400. I know I married that woman for a reason!

Stacks are loud, they get old and loud. Eventually you'll take it off like I've done. Save your money, JMO.

My 5" single sounds a lot better on the highway than the 4" full system did. I can't believe it's really quieter, it must be the deeper tone making it seem less obnoxious. If I towed I would have a muffler, though.

I like mine. It's a lot quieter than the 3.5'' exit in front of the rear tire used to be.

WOW! What I am gathering here, is that it is probably how your system was built (I guess that should be no suprise). Any suggestions? Second question, how much did you invest in your stacks and did you buy a kit or have them built at a exhaust shop?

My wife said if I put stacks on my truck she wasn't going to ride in it anymore!

Man, I'm going to miss her!

It's cheaper to buy and build your own setup. Stacks can be had for $50 each. Then if you want to do the Y pipe and elbows, thats when it can add$$ up. If you do like I did and just use a crossover pipe made of box steel, should save you a little. I have a setup for sale if you are close. Here are some pics of stack setups and mine thats for sale $150. http://www.turbodieselregister.com/f...ghlight=stacks

I think they look good and sound good but I like Bill got tired of them. My wife just shook her head and said "I knew you were a redneck but this goes to show everyone else it is true"

I love my stacks. So far I'm the only one in town with them in a first gen. I'm sure that others will soon follow and I'll have to come up with something else. As for loud I cant tell from inside the cab. I towed a Scout 2 down from McMinneville last week and wouldn't want to do that a whole lot without a muffler of some sort. But for around town unloaded seems to be just fine. Jethrro

Then there's the solution to ALL of the woes of installing a stack... a single outside of the bed.
- I can still haul a full load of hay or my camper.
- It's far enough above the cab that I can hardly hear it with the window rolled up.
- No fancy plumbing ... two 90's and one 7' stack.
- With the duals, I'm not cutting into any side-clearance ... it's well inside of that fender and my mirrors.

Oh yeah, and combine that with the air horns and bullbar/longhorns and the trucker's don't mind that old girl purring right alongside 'em down the e-way. Seems to keep them (and so many others... ) laughin.

But for some reason I haven't been able to keep a girl long enough to turn her into a wife to consult before doin this stuff... I wonder why?
