I tow heavy and looking for recommendations on long lasting 265/75/16 E tires with a load of at least 3300 pounds per tire, I weighed the truck with the load and I've got 6000 pounds on the rear axle alone..What you all run tire wise that lasts and can handle higher pounds...ALSO do the 265/75/16 fit the stock suspension. It's a flatbed so have plenty of room in back currently running 285/7516 in back and 245/75/16 in front..hoping to go to all one size if they fit


Just had the whole front end redone with spacers all new ball joints etc so it sits at 33.5 inches off the ground the to the fender.

I just want all the 4 tires the same and the 285 will not fit in front..don't want to have to carry 2 spares

 

Got it...I was just concerned about the heavy loads you carry...That's why I went to 19.5's on my truck, but you'd have to change wheels too......Ben

 

Did find some tires that can handle to 3900 pounds in my size which I think it should be ok...were you able to run the 265 in front without any mods?

 

I have 245/70R19.5's on the truck in my sigline...They are 1.5" taller than the originals...With no suspension modifications, I have zero rubbing issues under all conditions...Same with my previous 2003 4WD 3500...I can't speak for your '93......Ben

 

Sounds good I finally decided on the BFGoodrich® BFGoodrich® Commercial T/A® All Season 265/75/16 rated for 3400 pounds..lots of folks getting 60-100 grand on them so :-)..getting them on tomorrow

 

I run 235's front and 285's on the rear of the D250. I always have a glut of 235's to burn off. 285's carry the weight I want. (Current ones are Kelly ATR; a goodyear off-brand.) I pack 2 spares for longer trips.

Another possibility is the 255/85R16. Toyo's M55 is E rated. Its almost as pizza-cutter as the 245/70/R19.5.

 

I've been doing the 245 front and the 285 backs but with all the stuff I carry in flatbed i'll like to go to 1 spare...I just had to replace the whole front end ball joints connecting rods etc etc ALL MOOGS..someone said that running 2 different sizes can cause the front to go bad..u ever have that issue? Personally I think it's the 345,000 miles on it but who knows!

 

Nope. Sounds like bunk to me. Probably an excuse the tire shops use to sell you 4 tires at a time.

I'd still go with two spares. Or a tire plug kit and compressor. You can get creative mounting the spares... top of the headache rack, roof basket, stake pocket mount, etc.
