Timing help in Phoenix AZ area

Got my IP redone but it was not put in with the key in the right place Eric at Hungry diesel said it was fine to turn to match the key hole..was not dead center when took out, should have been I know but he said it would not matter since he would send the key in same place but did not sooo ever since it is not running as well..
Looking for a shop in the Phoenix AZ area or a mechanic that has the tools to time the pump on the truck.. been turned up to 225cc, timing spacer and 3200 spring just needs to be timed with the correct tool in back of IP...I did turn the whole pump some towards the engine and helped some BUT stills needs a bit of help.

Appreciate any suggestions or help in this

The key only goes into only slot in the shaft.
How could it be installed in the wrong spot?

Thats true but I had to turn it to fit where it was in the crank inside the engine and I think that changes the way the timing is within the IP from when it was set when redone for TDC, which the engine was not at..I think but not sure that is why I want someone to set it right

In hindsight what you should have done was bar the engine over to TDC and push the pin in below the IP to set TDC then pull the pin out. THEN you install the IP which should have been locked at TDC by the rebuilder. And take up the slack, tighten the nuts and your timing is set. then you pull the pin out of the gear and loosen the lock screw on the pump.

There are 3 videos on YouTube that shows how to do this.

I asked the Builder Eric at the Hungry Diesel and he told me to just turn the key to fit the engine...and that is where the problem is which brings us back to what I asked..does anyone know who in hte Phoenix area has the tools to reset the timing while in the engine...I know hindsight is great but not much good now

you also need to time the gear if it's out of whack which means you'll need to take the entire front cover off.

When I put it in long ago when I did the KDP and seal the rings were set correctly so not sure how they would get out of alignment..they are pretty well screwed on with all the bolts

Turn shaft until key lines up with the gear in the motor. Re-install.

before it had more "pep" but was getting fuel in oil THD fixed that but now less pep still pulled my 12000 pound trailer to Mexico and back but not as sharp the acceleration by itself almost like it is fighting itself...all I can think s that the timing is just a bit off and I've gone as far as it will go towards the engine...MPG worse as well

Could skip a tooth on the gear and lessen the amount the pump is pushed to the head.

Does the truck white smoke more than it did before the swap?

no white smoke at all EVER...smells like unburned fuel some more now and the boost went from 25 to about 15 max even though all I did was put the IP back in same place I took it out of ..never moved or cranked the engine while the IP was out

wire hooked up got a gallon of diesel to prefill the new filter..next on the agenda AND blow out all the dust on the BHAF and see if that works it's magic! I live in the desert of Salome no power...well solar but plenty of dirt so work from 5 to 8 am then back inside when it;s 110 like now!
