timing on 1st gen MY WAY

to everyone there how but here is how i did it

1: before you losen anything make a mark on pump in front of timing mark so you no how much you move IF YOU DONT ALREADY HAVE MARKS

2 : there are 3 13 mm nuts
3: 1 you see takes an ordinary 13 mm key
4: 1 between pump and engine takes a 13 mm shallow 1/4 drive soket with 10 inches of extention and that small 1/4 drive ratchet is better to make it trou that maze of fuel lines
5: 1 under pump between pump and motor that takes a U key or if you a poor like me make one as shown on pic
6: there is a 4rth nut in line af that power sterring cap youll see a slot there it takes an ordinary 10mm key
7: after everythin is loose take a ratchet strap and hook it on pump and other end on that big hook beside injector 1 that is going to eliminate prying banging and that oups i gone to far mistake and it will hold everything steady untill is tight and also makes for easy adjustment if you want to bring pump closer to motot just click and voila since you have to rotate pump this is the easymans way
8: i put mine 1/8 towards motor as i think almost everyone does
9:wen your done mark it and tighten everything up mark is gona be reference if it moves or if you want to bring it back

The ratchet strap is a great idea!

You don't have to be rich to get the "S" wrench. $10 buys the set from Harbor Freight.

there is also a pic in my gallery of the blue-point wrench for doing it. it has a tape measure next to it. i was thinking that folks could print it out and use a tape to scale it and have a pattern.

WTG! ...WHY in the world did`nt I think of that?! AWESOME. I may seem excited BUT it`s due to the fact that, when I tweaked my timing I popped something in my left elbow hackin on that darned VE . I`m an auto mechanic sooo a bum elbow is a baaad thing to have, took almost 3 weeks for it to feel "right" again, AND I BARELY got the pump to budge....like I say...you learn something new every day! heck Pastor, thats worth at least 10rwhp`s to me (and my elbow ).
