Time to seal off the kick panel vent.
As most of you may know, Southern Ca had a pretty good round of storms roll through for about 5 or 6 consecutive days. I happen to get in the truck one day and found a puddle on the floor, the carpet was soaked and of course it smelled horrible!
Having done my window and door seals within the last year, I can only assume it's the vent in the kick panel. Since I never use it, I think I'll try to yank it out and seal it off. I think DNRCustoms posted a thread about doing this. It was some time ago and I'm not sure what keywords to search for in order to find it.

Thanks Marc!! I don't look forward to the PITA that I've heard it to be, but I'm tired of the mildew and musty smell in the truck after even a little bit of rain.
Man over here on the "wet" coast of Canada I have a small lake on the drivers side. I have to use the steam cleaner to suck the carpet mostly dry evey week or so. I usually get a quart of so. Mine is probably coming from the kick panel vent, windshield gasket adn cowl crack....Some work to do next year.
I'm with thrashingcows.
I've put in a new windshield c/w gasket, make new gaskets for the cab lights, and pulled the front fenders expecting cowl cracks.
I've still got leak issues but mine are coming from above the dash.
I've pulled the instrument cluster and watched for leaks.I can see it coming down the A pillar.
I'm leaning towards mine being the seam sealer at the drip rail.
I'll be wire brushing out the old sealer and applying new come warmer weather.

I found water coming in the oval inside access cover for the bottom door hinge bolts. popped it off, ran a bead of silicone, and popped it back in. just another place to look, good luck

My 89 leaks on the drivers side as well. I had a leak years ago around the gasket for the windshield on the passenger side. I think my current leak is a cowl crack cause last year it developed the nasty sounding creek and crack. My 92 is broke on both sides , but I sealed the vent with metal and silicone. It took care of most of the water issues in that truck.

I know I have cowl cracks on both sides in my truck. Those could be part of the problem. I also notice water on the grill of the driver's side door panel where the speaker cut out is. I don't mind water in the door as it drains immediately after opening and since the weather seals on both sides are new, I know it's not coming from there.
