Indeed we do have some great folks that make up the membership of DTR.
The willingness to help others, and do so in accordance to the site rules, makes moderating DTR much easier.
Jack Thorpe (Site owner) built a very strong foundation for this site by setting up firm, but fair site rules.
From time to time, we do have to take corrective action when the site rules are not followed. However, removing a persons membership to DTR is our last resort.

It really is a testament to you great folks for making the staffs job easier. We have a great bunch of folks that make DTR such a great place.

If you try to re-register under a different user name once you've been banned, we send Guido and his cousin Luiciano to "pay you a visit".

I think this is the biggest reason for our success. Our membership is made up of mature people who share a bunch of the same interests and ideas. They also don't try to hide behind the anonymity of a computer keyboard to do things they would never do in real life. Our members treat each other with respect, even if they don't totally agree. They also understand that every time someone logs onto the site,,,,,,,,,,, we feel as if you have just walked into OUR home,,,,,,,,, and you have! We can be informed, enlightened, educated, advised, consoled, and amused by any member who chooses to post on this forum, however we will not be intimidated or forced to tolerate any type of behavior that we would not allow in our homes and around our families. I would say that 99% of our members moderate themselves and do a very fine job of it! We have members with different brands here and we even share some good old fashion ribbing from time to time, but there is no need to slam anyone with insults. (There are plenty of places on the web that promote this type of behavior and if that's "Your Thing",,,,,,,,,,,,,, nine times out of ten,,,,,,,,, our members will tell ya "This isn't the place"

Hey Rich,,,,,,,,,,,
I keep forgetting,,,,,,,,,,,, which one is the "Cyber-Hit Man" and which one is the guy who's knuckles drag the ground?

What are some of the labels I have seen, and what do they mean? The one I saw banned for flaming under another name is self explanatory, but I saw "Muted Member" once. I love this site, and certainly do not want to have my membership ever in question! I really am awed that the number of members with other brands, and how well everyone gets along. I can't get that kind of good discussion at my local NAPA, as everyone has so strong an Opinion! I even have been laughed at in my local CarQuest (which has since closed) for asking for Dodge parts, yet here everyone gives good sound advice and encouragement for whatever problems you've got with whichever brand. There was a post where someone told the poster to "go back to Ford, Then" which I saw very quickly was not tolerated, and I was very relieved! I spend a lot of time promoting DC products to friends and relatives, because I love them and want to see good products continue!

On a tangent: Why did DC kill the V-10? My 8.0L was the best pulling Gas Engine I have ever had the pleasure to own! I got the same mileage as my '81 Chevy 350 V-8, but could also tow 8000k like it wasn't there! I prefer my 5.9 Cummins, but that V-10 was a strong son of a gun!!

I agree those v10s were great and theirs alot of them around here they pull the tranfer sled like no other gasser thats for sure. dc has alot of great ideas and they do a better job than any other manufacture @ acctually releasing their prototypes. with the pt,viper, prowler, and so on ....so if they ax an idea Im sure its resources get pointed to another great idea.............. as for the "MUTED MEMBER" and all that......... Ive never seen anything but,---junior,senior,member,admin,mod,chapter prez, and the rest of the normal ones......but their might be more

Muted status is the "last chance" we give to a member that is not following the simple rules we have here. We give them a 30 day "mute" status where they can read but not post.

After the 30 day period is up, they are allowed to return and hopefully follow the rules. The next step is to be banned permanently from the site.

We do not like to use either of these measures, and the offender is sent warnings prior to any disciplinary actions being taken. They only get used when the offender just does not pay attention to what they are told.

We want one very simple thing here, for the members to get along. We all have differing opinions on stuff, and that is not a problem. However posting a response that is a personal attack on someone, is NEVER tolerated here.

A person can say anything they want, as long as they say it in a manner that is not offensive in nature. Use your head and think before posting something and you will never have a problem here.

There've been a few Ford guys on here trolling for trouble. But when they get no nibbles, they skulk off to some other site that permits their behavior.

Well the other day, for the first time in a couple years, I got in a little trouble. I suggested the purchase of something which may not be legal and when it was seen by a moderator it was removed with a stern warning. I really wasn't thinking when I said it but after the warning it hit me that the site doesn't want to be associated with anything controversial or illegal. I apologized via PM and I hope everything is OK. I definitely will choose my words carefully in the future. Man, I sure would get bored if I couldn't come here and get my daily dose of diesel.

I love this place man!!

Thanks for a great site.......

You made a mistake, you were called on it and you learned.

Everybody makes mistakes now and then, you are showing you can learn from it and move on. That my friend is what they call "Humility", a very desirable trait, that far TOO few people possess these days.

Keep on standing tall, and taking it on the chin when you mess up, shows you are smart and a good natured human being. No problem with that attitude at all
