time to put some money into the 91

Hi guys,

Well ive got about $1000 bucks to throw into the truck,

im looking at

turbo (he351) maybe?
intercooler (powerchoke)
injectors
lift pump of some sort.

Ive got some questions about these things,

The HE351 turbos, I have read they bolt right up and I have read you need an adapter for the manifold. Which is it?

also what one would be best for me? I was thinking the CW or the VGT I could easily fab up a cable for the vgt. But Id have to play around with it to see if it would suit me,

The intercooler I was thinking go with a PS Ic because they seem to be bigger and the install didn't look too bad.

I don't know what to do about injectors. I was thinking PODS because alot of guys seem to run them. suggestions?

electric lift pump. I had read that these trucks don't get enough fuel to the pump. At WOT they maybe get like 5-7psi. Id like the pump to have 15psi constant like it is rated for. What kinda low budget pump am I looking at?

If there are any other sort of upgrades you think i should do let me know,

Is it a non Intercooled 91 or a intercooled 91?

If it's non intercooled your injectors are big from the factory, leave them.

To make the HE351 work you'll need to weld a special exhaust flange to a downpipe, the flange is available from dieselautopower.

The HE351 will bolt to the manifold , they are both T3

If it's a Non i/C truck you will have to get creative with the intake crossover if you don't intercool it right away.

Hi,

truck is non intercooled.

Ok I had read they bolt to the manifold. I can weld a flange on easily.

The crossover tube shouldn't be hard I can either use PVC or exhaust tubing with a combination of rubber hoses etc.

I knew the injectors were bigger in the Non Ic trucks I just didn't know how much. thats fine with me if they will support fuel till around 300 give or take 20 horsepower, Thats my goal.

I would like to figure out an intercooler setup because I do tow quite a bit of scrap metal and it runs a little on the warm side pulling the hills on 33.

Anyone know a decent place to find an HE 351? and what would you guys recomend?

thanks,

ok i think i got that confused, I was thinking PVc for the intake tube. or schedule 40. Yea under constant 30psi and dropping to 0 it may crack or buckle.

Thanks for catching that though I mighta actually tried it.
