time for a new oil pressure sensor?

I'm thinking it could be. I tore the plug apart and cleaned it up, and now I get this. My needle still drops below the bottom line when it's really hot out, but I think maybe the oil pressure is still acceptable.

I would try mechanical oil pressure gauge first. Since diesels use solid lifters engine damage will result fast without any warning with low oil pressure.

You have 2 indications of low oil pressure. The gauge is a wild card in a dodge, but the warning light should come on at the low limit. If it's that low with the right oil in it, it indicates serious mechanical problems, like worn out engine bearings. A good mechanical gauge will tell you what the pressure actually is.

If the pressure is low, you can tear down the engine and refresh the worn parts, or wait till it puts a leg out of bed and go find another engine.

I'm planning a cam swap, and probably mains at that time, when I get the money. I have been thinking I should at least put a mechanical gauge on the side of the motor.

Mine reads the same way since i bought it. I put a mechanical guage on it and everything was fine. But it is a peace of mind to check it anyways.

When the light came on before I cleaned up the contacts and "calibrated" the gauge, when the light came on the gauge bottomed out as well.
