Well, you could occupy your time by squirting the old one with penetrating oil.

Already done all that, I just swapped out the HX35 center and front to my
old 18 rear. I've never had a bad time getting the housings off, lucky me I guess.

It's this waiting that I can't stand BUT it cost me $32.00 to get a new
silicone adapter hose for the HX35 overnight OUCH!!

Now that was expensive to say the least.

Well it got here, I was looking for UPS and using a few choice words.
Started to move the other car and low and behold there is a package
on the drivers seat, YEP!! there was the new housing. Did the swap out
yesterday in between the rain drops in about 45 minutes. Now all I have
to do is warm things up and see how it spools. Yeah I will run it through
a few heat cycles before I crank on it hard.

Happy Happy Joy Joy

I didn't notice much if any difference going from 18.5-16. Maybe just more hot air-2.5 psi, just more back pressure.

I'm looking for better throttle response and lower EGT's
With 3.54 gears when you go from 3rd to 4th you are at about 1600 RPM
it takes forever to get the RPM up to spin the turbo to get more fuel.

I can hit 1600 way before od Bushy. But the htb2 should be ready in the next week, then I'm gonna do the twins. that should take care of that little problem.

59ford, Have you put a governer spring in? if not I would highly recomend installing one. It helps in shifting through all gears, my 2nd to 3rd shift was the worst but now I can get enough rpms in 2nd that once I grab 3rd all I get is a puff of smoke and she's pullin hard again.

Have you cranked the off boost fuel? The screw on top of the pump under the little pry out cover. I had the same problem as you. wait, wait, wait, spool.

You could have a 9cm housing on there and it wouldn't do you any good. The VE pump in our trucks won't give full fuel until 1700+ RPM. The only way to fix the problem is to put in the 3200 governor spring and run the engine faster before shifting. Theoretically you could modify the governor lever to get rid of the "torque control" feature, but to take the lever out, you have to remove the flyweight assembly, which means taking the pump off the truck . . . and I still haven't decided how I would want to modify the lever anyway.

Oh -- I lied, there is another way to fix the problem -- grind the foot off the AFC lever. You will then be able to get enough fuel out of the pump at lower RPM's that you won't care about the "torque control". Just don't try to pass a smog test afterward

3200 GSK is on the way.

The AFC has been cranked in a bit, star wheel down 1/2 turn.

I would still like to know what grinding the AFC foot actually does.
This will be the question when the GSK gets here.

Now I am back on the clock, tick, tick, tick
