throttle linkage moved

holy edit!! this made such an improvement!! the way it was set up before, my pedal would hit the floor before i hit the full load screw on the pump and i could only hit about 2200 or 2300 rpm. now i can be 3/4 into the throttle and it has no problem reaching 2500 rpm. i felt a difference when i took it out right after. started from a stop in 2nd, clutched into 3rd and stepped on it. it hit about 2200 rpm and shoved me into my seat while still climbing to 2500 rpm. i noticed my boost gauge reading higher as well. when shifting out of 4th and into 5th, i would put my foot on the floor and would only see 15 or 15.5 psi at most. i see 15psi easily in 3rd now. i jumps to probably 17 or 18 in 4th. haven't noticed what i get in 5th. i've been having too much fun hahaha

Thats what I did. I also backed the high idle all the way out. Try that and see If you like it even more.

Yup, Your high idle in your pic is still stock...take the cover off the end and back her out some...i backed mine out close to a 1/4 inch ...then you'll only be limited by your stops on the throttle pin spring.

i know i'm rated at 2500 rpm but what can run this thing up to without hurting anything? my sig is wrong. i only have about 3/4 of a turn on my fuel screw. that's the only mod i have and it was done by my grandpa. i guess you could consider the throttle linkage a mod tho lol

i believe that. i wouldn't mind getting the 3200 kit, but the only thing that worries me is the mileage that's on this thing. the majority of the miles are highway miles while towing. it was never driven hard. being my daily driver, i don't wanna blow something and be stranded, you know? but i would like to see some more performance out of it. i know these things can take some abuse, but to what extent?

Try the idle screw out first before you do the 3200 spring. On my 89 I get fuel to 3100 rpm's and no load at 3600. 3000 rpm's is a safe setting.

in the picture, the screw that is just above the throttle linkage is the full load screw. mine still has the cover on it, so it doesn't quite look like one. the cover is a cone shape if you can see that.

In the picture if you look just above the center of the throttle linkage there is the high idle screw....(below the afc cover) on the right side of it is the cap you need to remove.

no worries here, we all gotta start somewhere! and everyone here is willing to educate you. what you're thinking of is called the breakaway spring. look at the picture. the diaphragm assembly at the top with the 4 screws in the top is where the fuel pin everyone talks about resides. the full load screw is just below that and just above the throttle linkage rod in the picture
