Throttle cable ideas
I was wanting to get some kind of cable to control my throttle for when I go out to warm the truck up in the morning, as of now I just use my mag-light, but I would really like to make something like a big truck has where you can set it where you want it and lock it and leave it. I was thinking of just buying one of those universal locking cables from the parts store and seeing if that would work, but wanted to ask here to see what ya'll think, and if anybody has one and how the made it or where they bought it.

I had an old Chevy Cop-price with a manual high idle. It was one of those locking T-handles like you're talking about with a ball chain like on a bare-bulb light socket going to the accelerator pedal arm. When you pulled out the **** it took out the slack in the chain and started raising the RPM.
You might consider fabing a bracket to hold one of the electric solenoids like they use to use on the '70s or so cars to bump the idle up to keep the AC compressor from killing the engine at idle. Run it with a switch in the cab.
They've got a similar setup on a couple of the trucks down at the firehouse.

Go to a big truck grave yard.
Take tools and lots of money.
You will see all sorts of goodies that are nice to have.
There are numerous styles of locking throttles.
Some have a big stick right between the seat and door that a button is pushed to release a rotating **** that sets the idle; releasing the button locks the setting.
Pushing the button turns it loose again.
Most big truck throttles can be over-ridden by the pedal for more rpm while maintaining the setting.

Well if there was a big truck junkyards around here I would definitly try that, but there aren't hardly any junkyards to even find pickup parts around here!! Anybody know where to find that stuff online anywhere, I tried a search but came up empty, surely there is somwhere that sells a universal one or something?!?!?!

1 1/2 - 2 hours probably, that would probably be a good thing to do some weekend if I can't find anyway else to find one, but would hate to spend $50 in fuel plus however much they would want at the junkyard for something that I wouldn't think was all that expensive.

I used a T-cable with a turning lock for my pickup. I wish that I had my pickup here so that I could take a picture of it. Mine is not perfected yet, because it interferes with the operation of the throttle
Here is the Adjustable hand throttle I got from NAPA Part# 731-1132 I have a PTO on my f-250 that runs my hydro. winch. So I like to bump up the rpm for faster line speeds, Plus I needed it for my on board welder.
It is a very nice, heavy duty cable with a ****. You can mount it on your dash or under it on a bracket like I did. I had to have two because I use one to shift my PTO in and out. On the throttle side you have to use some sort of ball chain so that it will go slack when you use your pedal.
I used a butt conector and soldered it to the end of the steel cable then to the ball chain. It is very solid and works great you can also use the pedal to over ride it.
If you guys want some pic's let me know how to post them and I will
Thanks

I wouldn't mind some pics myself, however I don't know how to upload pics but I do know how to post them if they are already stored somewhere, just click the "insert image" button on the post reply page and put the URL in the image brackets.

Yes It does. It holds by friction. I can bump up the RPM by pulling out on the **** and it stays wher ever you pull it out to. You can also hit the throttle and let off and it will only go down to where you have it set at.

Here is a vernier throttle cable that you can fine tune the RPM's.
