Are they suppossed to look like this??

haha, already know the answer...

started having a stiff pedal and poor stopping power, and had replaced the front pads a few weeks ago..
pulled the rear wheels and found this mess.
broken return sprint had apearantly knocked the e-brake cable loose and somehow tore the seal..no oil leaking out of the drum however, which I find strange...
Also, someone had asked about how the airbags sat behind the wheel?

As much oil that's in there I'd say that the shoes wore very well if at all .

I suspect that mine looks just like that. Rear end likes to lock on the ice too easy. I'm just waiting on spring to hurry up and get here befor I tear it down.

BTW Brake shoe dust will soak up a lot of oil so it dosen't lerak out the drum.

Oh but they can!!!! Clean them real well, lightly scrub them with emery cloth, and nail them curve up on the wall and they make great tack hangers for breast collars and headstalls!!!

ok, thought I had fixed all this, but I guess not...
this evening, i smelled hot brakes and the drum to this wheel was burning to the touch!

I replaced everything but the drum itself and the wheel cylinder, so not sure whats up.

It was dark, so i got a new project for in the morning ....pull it all back apart and see why its adjusting itself up too tight......and hoping it hasnt ruined the new seal........

Well, parking brake cable wasnt releasing all the way, and was holding the shoes against the drum just enough to heat things up.. probably why the seal went out in the first place.

got it disconnected until I get a replacement cable..
