Why not?

Unfortunately Ive got this crazy notion in my head to sell old blue. Shes been driven 200 miles since November and hasnt run in a month. The interest in her has dwindled. Ive got the Dmax to drive, Im thinking about sellin old blue and trading the dmax for a 06/07 5.9. It would mean picking up a payment but I already spend 400 a month on the 91 for nothing efficient. Cant much justify keeping her. Just had to get my idea out there I guess...Hate to get rid of it, but there is no reason in the world to keep it.

the first gen is where it started. without that truck the new one you want would not exist, it is the history of the cummins powered pickup, it will run for-EVER and you put you time into it to make it what you wanted, and if you buy a newer cummins we will miss you and your first gen here, where it all began. but do what you want it's your truck i just want to give you something to think about. just as long as it's a cummins, thats all that matters!

1st gens are very practical... It is never an economically sound solution to purchase a new vehicle. Money always seems to fly out of the wallet more than is originally planned. Just spend some time in the third gen boards. We're having diesel fun for pennies on the dollar compared to the new guys.

Well Im done with the bombing if I get a newer truck. I cant justify spending money on turbo, injectors, clutch, head, etc. if I keep this truck, and I know thats what will happen if I do. Ive still got some thinking to do.

you shouldent sell the beats, it's not costing you anything to have it there, it's all paid off and all you have to do is fill it with fuel when ever it is needed to do some big grunt work, it dosent hurt to have it, plus you can trade the d-max for a 5.9 and then you can have two 5.9's the first and third, how sweet would that be.

Brett, think. If you do sell it and get whats it worth, how can a new one justify what blood and sweat you put into this one? It is paid off, you have un-numbered hours into it, and the satisfaction of a job well done. Can your "new" truck you are wanting to get keep up with a DMax AND get 23mpg?? Now if has some nice features but come on man! This thing is something YOU KNOW YOU CAN NEVER REPLACE! I wish I still had my truck and not had parted it out but it is coming back into a Chevy but will never be the same. Dont give up! Keep on going.

Jon

im in your position rbrett. i put my blood sweat and tears into this truck (maybe not as much as you) but none the less, i found a REALLY nice ext cab long bed 4x4 second gen today with some mods (cold air intake and exhaust) with 124000 miles for 9500 obo with a snow plow. the trucks nice and my dad said it wouldnt be a bad move it i decided to chase after it. well im just so torn to do so. im all confused.... I LOVE my first gen and DONT want to get rid of it. but i own another truck and a car and its kinda not practical to have 4 vehicles at 17 years old. but if iwere u KEEP it, you have to much into it to let it go. im thinkin of selling my other 2 to keep this one and tack another on. i means to much to me alot ot me and its hard to sell.....so y sell if u dont HAVE to...think about it

Lol, have you seen me always ask about what to do next? Thats an exaggeration, but Ive already got some 16k in this rig. I probably wont sell it, but the idea is out there, along with the idea of a swap into something more practical. Ive just kinda lost my passion for diesels i guess.
