Thermostat Gasket ???
I am replacing the thermostat in a 1989 DodgeCummins.
The only seal/gasket I found on it is a thick rubber ring.
Is this all the gasket there is??
Can I clean and lube the rubber ring and re-use; or do I need to find a new one??
The engine lift ring is behind the water-neck.
Are there no gaskets between these pieces??
Thanks for all the help.

I had to use form a gasket as the "seal" leaked. If it's in good shape you are okay, but if it has cracks you should use it and the form a gasket.
I ahve a 180 & a 190 degree thermostate and change back and forth for the summer. **** I know, but its make a big difference in the winter.
