thermocouple install?

how did you go about it. i finally bought a nos isspro pyro guage and thermocouple for 30 bucks brand new in box. i was wondering how you guys installed them, if you just drilled and tapped your manifold or if you drilled then welded a bung on there becuase mine looks almost too long to sit totally in the manifold without bottoming out on bottom of manifold. pics would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Ed

you dont put the whole probe in the manifold you drill and tapp it then there should be a set screw on the side of the nut that threads into the manifold i think it says to put the probe a 1/4" past the nut im not positive though

on my autometer that G1625S and myself did, I said the same thing, but the part that acctually threads into the manifold doesnt go allthe way in, then on top of it the thermocouple only goes so far. looks are decieving.

This is where mine is located. If I were gonna do it again, I'd put it on the other side of the divider (as far towards the front of the truck as possible). The way its sitting right now, its as close to the firewall as I could get. I know it doesn't look like it but my manifold is so shrunk.... looks are deceiving

i thought you wanted the pyro closer to back of manifold due to number 5 and 6 being hotter then front ones??

I was under the impression that cylinder #1 burns the hottest. I'm thinking this could depend on whether the pickup is intercooled or not because the intake plate is different. Which would provide the same effect on the back cylinder if you're intercooled. Dave, this is where you come in

#6 is usually the hole that gets scored when things go bad. I'd expect #1 to run the highest EGT due to the horrible #1 intake port.

I just got mine installed last monday. After reading all I can on this site I put it towards the back of the maniflod like 90firstgen. Do a search in the member photos on pyro and you should get alot of pics. This is what I did and it worked great.
