What size is that sucker? I don't have a socket big enough and so I have to go buy the right one tomorrow. All I know is that it is bigger than 1 1/4"
Almost seems like it would be a metric size. It's not much bigger than 1 1/4" though.

Anyone know? I'd rather not buy the wrong one and have to make 2 trips to town, if you know what I mean.

I deperately have to change out my rear output shaft seal on the case. It's leaking REAL bad. like a quart and a half (or more) in 1200 miles.

It's times like that that I wish I owned caliper. Maybe I should go buy one of them little doohinkies tomorrow too if it's not too much money

I believe it's 1 5/16", went through the same thing when I went to change my rear seal.

 

well thanks. If a 1 5/16 fits over the nut it will get the job done!

 

When you put the nut back on it needs to be tight - over 200 ft/lbs. It is what keeps the speedo drive gear tight. Otherwise you might find you have either a non functing speedo or one that bounces. If you need the exact spec. post and I will get it for you.

I think it goes to 240 ft lbs or something.

 

id like to know what the specs are on both the rear input and front input nuts.....i just changed both my seals....there definitly tight but i dont know if there that tight....thanks!

 

Ditto on the torque specs I just did front and rear on mine and I know they arnt that tight.

 

The torque spec on the rear yoke nut is 280 ftlbs. I will have to dig out the other specs.

Front/Rear Bearing retainer bolts : 22-30 N-m (16-22 ft lbs)
