Swapping P/W to cranks
Swapping P/W to cranks
I have an 86' D100 that is going to the scrap yard this weekend and since it has the manually windows I was thinking I would snag them so I could convert the drivers side to manual. I like eletric but the pass. side is already switched and the drivers side needs help to go up or down. What do I need to take from the donor to make the swap?
Thanks,

But then I am out $5
I really don't want all the extra crap laying around. That is why the truck is going to the scrap yard. On second thought I may just pull the door so I can fix the broken hinge that is my W350. But still what do I need to do?

to put cranks in you remove the power window assembly by unbolting it,
on the cranks you have to remove the rivets that hold the crank assembly in the easy way is to grind the head and punch out the steel center of the rivet then drill the rivet.
you will need to keep the crank handle, crank assembly, door panels. that should be it.
and it you still want power door locks and mirrors you can do that also i moved the door lock switch to next to the cargo light switch

Or take the scrap $ and buy a lifetime motor from NAPA?
I'm not a power window kind of guy but I have gotten used to them. Especially the hard to reach passenger side. I like even better now that they're wired always hot.

I know I've seen it, but can't find it now....

Hmmmm... it was a Jim Lane post (suprise!
). Just remove the PW fuse, and jump the "out" leg to an always hot fused side. I'll have to look at my fuse box to see where it went. Or any hot, just be sure that the PW circuit still has a fuse in there somewhere!

If I were to keep the powerr windows I would keep the pass side, but that one is already converted. I like power windows, a lot, but the motors are expensive and seem to be a pain in the edit. So manual windows it is. I will be keeping the whole door so I have some spare parts, migght have to keep both, but we'll see. Thanks for the input guys.
