Steering issues

What would cause my '93 to follow the low spots in the road while keeping the wheel perfectly straight? Its also near impossible to pull a bumper pull trailer because it makes the problem 10x worse. The steering box doesn't seem to have much play in it and neither does the steering shaft. The only thing in the steering that seems questionable is the idler arm. I rebuilt the whole thing around 60k ago except for the box. What do you guys suggest?

.Start by re tightening the bolt's on all steering component's make sure you don't have any slop in anything . then you may have to rebuild or just buy a New Box that way you know everything is golden .Or if you have enough lift go too Crossover steering and be done with all the junk dodge steering that our truck's have

With the truck off, have someone try and turn the steering wheel while you are laying under it.

Pay attention to the frame around the gearbox...........

I'll check the mounting around the frame area. I checked all the nuts and they are tight. Can you do crossover steering on a 2wd? I thought it was for 4x4's so I never looked into it.

Have you had an alignment? Excessive toe-in or any toe-out will do some funny things. You can actually do a pretty good job on alignment yourself with a tape measure.

What are the condition of your front and rear springs. Bad suspension can cause these problems too especially when pulling a trailer. The front end is designed to carry a certain amount of weight. Worn out front or rear springs can cause this to change the geometry of your steering and weight distribution. I'm sure at some point you've pulled a trailer that was either to heavy to the front or rear and have experienced how difficult it is to control a truck loaded improperly. You can start to experience those same issues due to bad springs.

I found my problem. Both rear shocks were way past used up and the driver side lower shock mount was loose because the axle u-bolts were very loose. I tightened up the u-bolts and installed a set of KYB GR-2 shocks and it rides and handles 100% better.
