Yeah, my brother had this issue with the larger tires he purchase. There was no center steer and you had to manually turn the steering wheel in the direction you wanted. If you run larger tires or plan on jacking up your truck crossover steering is nice!

@Stude4x4 that's not a bad price, you can check out what the install looks like there;

Either direction you take would be a good one. Although, getting a brand new box from AGR for that price would be hard to beat!

I have the AGR SB2 on my Crew since 03 and before that it was on a Ramcharger a year or two, with no issues.

I need to do something soon. I might try and rebuild it myself, to save on money for now and just because I like doing stuff like that. If I had the money though I think I would buy the AGR box. I would do the crossover, but its a lot of work. Not that I can't handle it, but I don't have the time and can't have it down long. I just got married and am trying to buy a house, so the truck isn't top on the list. I'll post back up when I fix it. Thanks again.

I got mine from these guys about two years ago....

http://www.steerandgear.com/

I got the 3 1/3 turn lock to lock as opposed to the 4 1/4 lock to lock stock unit. So far its been rock solid, very tight and no leaks. This box along with a Borgeson steering shaft made a huge difference. I can't remember but I think I ended up with about $500 in the box and the shaft.

I have a AGR and not sure what they do if anything that's different from a regular rebuilt. I got it 3 years ago and it's shot!! The whole front end was rebuilt and now I find that the box is wasted.. near dangerous!!

No matter what your getting a rebuild. Cardone is one of the largest rebuilders in the country used to sell them new auto parts that they used for specs!!

I thought years ago I heard that chevy made a van in `87 or `88 that had a steer box that fit our trucks that was a 12:1 box??

I've got the RedHead box, and after a year or so, no problems, no leaks. Had an AGR, pos from the start. Leaked within a month, sent it back (under warranty, at my expense, $$$), still weeped oil, then turned into a major hemorrage. Within a year, more slop than one it replaced-never again. Not sure of warranty on other boxes, but AGR only had 90 days, (at the time, at least). Also have used the NAPA rebuilts, OK, but always had a lot of play (to me). Keep in mind, I've owned this truck since '92, so I've tried a few different pieces, and know what works, and what doesn't.
