Did a search and got conflicting answers. So, the question is, will a 2wd steering box from a mid 80's 1/2 ton gasser truck fit on my 92 4x4. Mine is pretty well trashed and i can get this one real cheap, and i would probably throw some fresh seals in it for schnitz n giggles.

The boxes are interchangeable but there are different hoses. I believe they switched in 86 or 87 just be aware the fittings changed to metric.

 

X2 And take a good hard look at your frame.

 

I have '84 hoses on a '93 truck, and they are off of a 4wd. The only difference I found was the return line fitting on the box was very short and a 90* angle on the '84, mine was longer and had less of a bend.
