Starting Trouble

Installed rebuilt injection pump today. the truck is puffing white smoke with some small puffs of black and it wont start

did you check timing, rather than just line up the lines

did you bleed all the air? crack injector lines open to let the air out? is the pump timed right?

Start run solenoid hooked up? Could be idle is set too low to start and or fuel screw not in far enough causing looow idle/not enough fuel to start. Two things to try if one of these were the case, try starting with your foot on the throttle to the floor. If that don't do it, try turning the fuel screw in a turn, then try starting again.

Did you ever figure out how to install it correctly? Didn't do like Swank and just tighten the nut over the key and damage it? Air in lines, key not lined up or maybe not enough start fuel.

i think there was to much i backed off the full fuel screw and now it is trying to start sounds like it hits on 3 then dies and its cranking faster
