Stacks
Stacks
I have a 1989 with stock exhaust and stock engine. My wife is going out of town so I think this would be a good time to put on a set of dual stacks as she hates the idea of stacks. Is it better to use a muffler or no muffler? Any suggestions on what brand?
stack mufflers
This place sells internal stack mufflers that still sound good but eliminate the droning in the cab.

i had 6" dual stacks on my single cab 3/4 ton straight piped and i loved the way it sounds. it sounded like a peterbilt taking off which was awsome. i didn't mind the drone too much, with the stereo on and the windows up it wasn't too bad.

My truck has been straight piped since I've got it, but as far as exhaust I've made a 4" down pipe to 5" after the Tcase and a single 5" up through the bed, mitre cut and painted black, grill paint
well if you want to stack your truck....i dont think you can run a hood stack cops frown apon that one....and if your wife isn't to crazy about them i wouldnt take the muffler off....just incase....although nothing beats the sound of a straight piped cummins

they make short little 4" resonators (i don't call them mufflers) that sound like straight pipe up until about 1500 rpm. Can't even tell at idle
just look for some very short 4" mufflers.
