speedometer to transfer case

alright, I have a 92 w250. It has a 2005 nv56 custom fit in it. Unfortunately, where the speedometer unit goes into the transfer case, it broke right at the transfer case. I pulled it out and put a plug in to keep it clean. My local dealer said this part is no longer manufactured, and I have had no luck locating one. I have just been using a GPS to monitor speed and mileage. Getting a little old. Any help? Thanks.

Speedo shops can get you a ratio adapter.

I have yet to be abnle to find one. People keep saying they are availiable, but the trans and speed shops that I have contacted say they cant help me out.

You can still buy the gear part, but you cant find the case that the gear goes in, which is where mine was broken. I also use the GPS for speed, altough I have to lie to get it inspected for the state.

I talked with these guys, they were very helpful, but do not carry the necessary parts to fix mine.

I'll take your word for it, but I find that hard to believe. They are making me a custom underdrive (which is part of what you're looking for) so the parts are out there. I have a buddy that works at a local transmission shop and they have boxes of these under and overdrive gear boxes sitting around, so maybe you could try that? It's $62 for a brand new complete underdrive from PATC, so you could go that route too, depending on your budget.

There is another option you can try, it's called the Speedo Healer. It's primarily made for motorcycles, but after numerous emails back and forth, it will work on our trucks. Basically you attach the VSS directly to the transfer/tranny (abandon the mechanical underdrive) and then use the Speedo Healer to electronically correct the speedo. I went the mechanical route as my soldering/electronic skills are limited, but the dude I emailed assured me it would be under an hour install and is straightforward.
