Speed Sensor

Anyone have a part number for the transfer case speed sensor. I bought about three of them and nothing works. I cleaned up the stock one that was working and seems to work for a few hours before it would drop down to zero. When I took the speed sensor off the nut cracked on it..

I'm thinking it is something to do with the brand I bought? I purchased a standard Part # SC109T

I'm thinking about buying this part# from rockauto but I don't want to keep buying these haha.

ORIGINAL ENGINE MANAGEMENT Part # VSS7

If napa has them that will work as well.

I need the speed sensor/speedo gear setup as well. I am goin through my transfer case now and it was in the back of my buddys truck. it must of got bumped around cuz it broke the speedo gear piece in half where the plastic is. I've checked around a little bit and heard I could only get them at the dealer. Where else can you get them and for a decent price? thanks

Are you sure its the sensor? Might be a bad plastic gear inside the t-case.

Take the reducer off of the transfer case and plug the VSS right into the transfer case. If it works but the speedo is off, find your true speed.

Now with a GPS or a highway with mile markers (you need a tach and stop watch for this) you go down and find 50mph, or 60, and record what your speedo says.

Mine says 42mph at 60mph. The speed is reading 70% of the true speed or it is 30% off. Now find the section where it says it is for converting MPH to KM with the reducers. Find one that is 130% faster and you now have the right speed.

Geez do they still have mile markers on freeways?

I have not seen them here in Southern California in years.

Thanks to our most recent addition to the IL penitentiary, we have 1/10th mile markers in most places...
