will it hurt anything to remove the plastic spacer that is on the stock fuel pin? i only have the smoke screw and the star wheel turned in

no, it won't do any harm. some guys either shave the nylon washer or replace it with a couple of rubber o-rings.

so you sayin if i take it completely out ill be fine? what is the avantage to shaving it?

yes, it'll be fine if you completely remove it. the advantage to shaving the nylon washer would be that it would allow increased fuel pin travel thus allowing the AFC pin to ride at the fuel pin's deepest setting giving you the most fuel that is possible with that particular pin.

Depending on how the star wheel is set, you can have the fuel pin travel too far and start to cut fuel. Better to look at the wear mark and shave the washer so that the pin stops at the correct spot.
