Yeah its a good step. Im running POD injectors, HX35 with a 14. Ive been told Im around 300, and as Im going intercooled, I should be able to milk some more out of the pump. If you can find an hx35 for cheap do it, otherwise get a Gillette upgrade for your h1c and a housing. HX40s do alright but are a little harder to spool and not near as reliable (weak shafts). A good similar but much better alternative is the s300 or htb2 series.

I would buy a 16cm housing for you h1c (same housing as one you would by for HX35) then a stage 3 or 4 compressor upgrade for it....................Hmmmm.....400 HP don't waste you time on up grading your turbo or a HX35......the HX40 is bigger but has a problem with main shafts breaking and is why you see talk of the fat shaft 40's

my knowledge really starts to get foggy after a HX35......

If your short term goal is 400 just state throwing fuel at it until you egts start getting to toasty then open you wallet wide, buy a bigger turbo

If 400 is a long term goal.......like a couple of years, then up grade you h1c for now and then sell it to help on the bigger price turbo later on.

I am personally looking to step up to a phat shaft 62/65/12 or 14 before long. Its supposed to be a great turbo with excellent spool and should get to 400hp easily.

The problem with the 40's is it's a big turbo on the exact same shaft as the 35. They are both weak and if you want to make power, not problems then the Phat Shaft from Industrial is awesome. The Holsets will get you there no problem but the will fail when pushed. Too much drive pressure and boom.

You would be surprised what an h1c upgrade or hx35 will do to your seat of the pants performance. (Not to mention get you well beyond 300horses) I would recommend starting slowly with a turbo upgrade, making sure you want to get crazy before dropping the 4 digits on a turbo.

You can upgrade to a 60 mm compressor kit. Gillett Diesel and HTT have them.

For $350 a good used HX35 would be a better investment. Plus you're gonna get a smaller wastgated exhaust housing. I have spent the money on a stage IV and it's still cheaper to HX35 it. Later if it's not enough then upgrade to an s300 or equivilent. Just my .02! It's all gonna be expensive no matter what you do. LOL

I think the upgrades are only around $300, and you get the 60mm wheel with the upgrade. I believe the specs on the upgrade h1c are better than the hx35. Now that Ive said that, I picked mine up for $200 with a 14cm wastegate and love it.
