Slipping

ok so i got a new tranny a wahile ago. when i first start up the truck and put it in drive it will go but it will slip into neutral at say a stop light or stop sign. and then a couple seconds later back into drive. once it gets warm its fine. is this normal? im not sure if its a diesel thing

sounds like you have a case of converter drainback. Its on all 1st gen auto trucks unless fixed by the dealer a long time ago...

The torque converter has to be full of fluid to work and it does not fill with fluid in PARK, in the morning when you fire er' up. Let it idle in NEUTRAL for like 30 seconds and then put it in DRIVE and take off.

If the problem lasts about the 1st 20 or 30 seconds it`s most likely the converter, but if lasts longer than that you probably have low line pressure caused by a leaking seal. If thats the case I`d bring it back to the place that OH`ed the unit.
