Sled Pullin a first gen

Anyone here do any sled pulling in a first gen. Am considering it for this weekend just to see what it'll do. I am not sure what gears are in the truck but I assume its probably 4.10's. In a 5 speed, what gear should I pull in and in high or low range? I am guessing if its high range probably 2nd.....and if its low range either 3rd or 4th. Truck is stock.

Cant tell ya bout pulling. But in diesel power this month is a 1st gen puller. He pulled at our town pull earlier this year. Search 1st gen videos and youll find some by gasgano, you can watch his vids and learn how to and not to pull in a first gen...one did good, the other killed his truck.

git-r-done, i pulled my truck last year 4.10 5-speed. after much thought and talking to people i decided on 4lo in 2nd. i slipped it enough to get going but as little as i could, got the rpm up a little gained the best ground speed i could in 2nd and then floored it. well the rpm went up but the truck didn't go any faster. with a stock clutch it's gonna get hot really quick, and then it won't hold worth a crap. there was another guy there with a 1st gen that pulled 4hi in 1st it took forever but he made it a good ways.

4 lo, 4 hi is a great way to tear up a t-case, just paly around with your speeds cause there is differences in tire size, truck modifications, track conditions.

In 4 high the G-rag will go befor the 205. I pulled in low 3rd when I had a 5spd. Let the t-case do the work thats what its for. If your clutch is ? low 2nd.
