Single stack mack questions for the wise

guys ive been debating whether or not to stack my truck. ihave all the parts or so i think. I was wondering do you have to run a piece of flexpipe in the system anywhere? also i have a chrome stack and i hate chrome but i got it for free so i was wondering if anyone has suggestions on how to paint it and if it is even possible i know i can get it powdercoated but i was just wondering if i could use high temp paint 1300 degree and sand the chrome? thanks guys

flex is a good idea to help absorb the vibration from the motor.

it depends on what the stack is made out of. if it is just chrome plated i don't see why you could not sand it off and paint it. like you said use high temp paint and you will be fine. they do not get that hot.

I have a 5" full exhaust from where the downpipe ( 4" ) curves under the cab.
I didn't use any flexpipe. The system is attached at the DP and at the body where it turns up. The stack is braced about 1/2 way up to the bed rail.

I'm sure it flexes, but it doesn't creak and groan and I don't notice any vibration.

No flex on mine, nothing's broke in 2 years.

Scuff the chrome up good and the high temp paint will stick. Any shine at all = still too smooth.
