silencer ring/pump mods
Well im ready to start tweakin stuff to get a little better around town throttle response. Going to try turning up the Low pressure boost. I dont want to get too crazy with mods its just a rec./work truck. I have read that you can gain good HP by turning up the pump but I want to know how much you gain by removing the silencer ring(love the whine)do you notice a diff right away? or is it just more noise. What about removing muffler? and air filter mods? Truck has great power at highway speeds but takes awhile to spool.
Here is a picture.

Removing the silencer ring does nothing for horespower,it just lets the turbo whine louder and sound like it should. A better air intake and adding a 4" straight pipe will help your turbo spool a little faster and when you start tuning your pump it will help to lower EGT's quite a bit.

I don't believe the H1C turbo has a silencer ring. First thing you need to do is get the 16cm exhaust housing. That will really help you with throttle response.

No silencer ring on any 1st gen. It does nothing for power either way, it's just a noise thing.
Like Mark said, a 16 cm housing will do wonders. The 21 cm that's stock on a '92 absolutely sucks.
If you're towing a lot or running on the highway most of the time you will probably want some kind of muffler.
A BHAF will help with airflow and let you hear the turbo a little bit.
