Should I replace my thermostat?

I have owned my truck for ten years now, and I have never replaced the thermostat. It doesn't leak, and has always operated as it should. What do you guys think?

That's what I was kinda thinking. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. I just wanted to know if would be a good preventative measure.

I replaced mine as a preventative measure while I had the radiator out. I put in a cheap one not knowing that they don't work as well as a cummins one. It would open and close all the time. Then I put in a cummins one in and it still does it although not near as bad. I am about ready to put my original one back in the truck. I vote leave it alone.

I've had a lot of bad thermostats right out of the box over the years, I also vote don't do it. If it makes you feel better throw a new one in the glove box then you know you will never need it.

Just to be bass ackwards I'll vote for install the new one (Cummins for sure) and keep the old one. Then you'll feel better on the PM front and have the fall-back. But wait til you need to replace the coolant antifreeze to avoid extra effort, .... just my $.02
