Running Boards?
Running Boards?
I'm getting ready to start working on my 92 and the running boards I have on it now are a bent and look kind of bad, so I was wondering where I can find new ones? I have been looking for the past few days, but am not having any luck, thanks ahead of time...
I'd like nerf bars a lil better, but right now I'll take what I can get...

Depending on just how they are bent, any respectable metal-working shop will have a big press that can iron things back to true.
If they are tread-plate, you can do wonders with a flat-faced hammer and block of wood; a little polish and good as new.
I have more running-boards than I have trucks and I have never paid money for a set yet; just the other day, a guy at a swap-meet was getting ready to pack up and he had a very nice set that even fit a truck I had; I asked how much and he said take them for free.
It is a very simple matter to retrofit them from one body-style truck to another.
I used to not like them; but, after I found how they protect the sides of the truck from flying objects, I try to keep them on everything.
Hardly a day passes that I don't hear a big rock KER-WHACK the bottom of the boards, instead of my paint.

I don't pay any attention to what they fit most of the time. I look at the style first. Then look at the length. A 1st gen X cab takes a 6' board.
I don't use the cheap mounting kits with most boards anyway. I just mfg my own mounts.

Well with my bonus this year, I'm Line Xing the whole truck. Right now it's black and gold quarter panel, but I'm going to go with the black and Silver bottom quarter panel, so I'm not to worried about lil rocks, but would like a new set of boards, if I can find any.
