Runaway cruise control

My cruise control ain't working right anymore. I can push on the decelerate button which will momentarily slow it down but then it's off to the races again as soon as I release it. It has glitched like this before but now it does it all the time. How do I fix this? Thanks

But I like using it! Up and down grades holds the speed no matter what - must be the torque of the mighty Cummins - it's real nice to have for my 2+ hour commute (when I'm working!).

mine did the same, along with the speed needle bouncing crazily, .... I have it narrowed down to the ratio drive, replacement due in tomorrow. Mine's a Getrag tho so may be different setup.

I've got a pot., no more TPS. It had been working fine with the pot.

What i noticed with mine was, if i set the pot around 9 o'clock, the cruise doesn't work well, run's away...If i set it at around 3 o'clock it surges when you first set the cruise for just a second, then works flawlessly.
In other words, i seem to have 2 adjustment points on my POT for running the O/D....when i use the +/- 3 o'clock settings....the cruise works fine.
Just my experience...but with these old rattle traps who knows.....

The pot will cause the cruise to run away if it the set too high thry messing with the adjustment a little. Mine did the same exact thing.
