Rotors Pads and Drum Replacement

Hi guys,

It is getting to be time to replace my brake pads. I am thinking about putting all new rotors, pads and drums on my 89' D-250 because I am not sure when they were replaced last seeing as I bought the truck last August. I can tell already that the rotors are warped due to the jerking while applying the brakes. Does anybody have any recommendations for who has the best for the cost of any of the items listed above?

I just did pads, calipers, rotors, brake lines, and wheel seals all from rock auto. Total cost was around $350ish. There is a great thread in the stickey with exploded views of the locking hub innerds

You will need to press out and in the lugs if you chose to replace rotors, easy if you have a press, hard but possible if you don't.

Not all that hard if you have the right parts.

Good luck!

A 2# brass hammer from Harbor Freight worked just fine & dandy for me. I also choose to replace all of the studs due to their age.

A 3 pound hammer & a large punch will R & R them just fine.

Okay, I will watch for that. I was thinking about going with pads and rotors from Napa or Auto Zone. Does anybody suggest otherwise?

Both those places have their stuff renamed, but who really knows where it's made? If I were you, I'd look for Raybestos, Wagner, or Bendix, with Raybestos being my preferred choice. Why? 'Cause that's about all they do is brakes. Rockauto will be able to help you out.
Just my $0.02, and I'm sure others will have their favorites too.

I used the mid priced versions from my local Carquest parts store & that was 40,000 miles ago without any problems.
