Rocker Panel repair

The only spot on my truck with rot is on the rocker panel below the club cab part of the truck. Has anyone done this repair on there truck? and is there a rocker panel patch piece out there? They have 2 at the local car quest but am unsure what I need. Or should I just make the parts? Just looking for some info.

I hate to tell you this, but the only spot you see is the under the club cab part right now. I wouldn't be surprised if its more wide spread when you start digging into it.

Anyway, I have yet to find replacement rockers specifically for a club cab, reg cab parts are everywhere. I bought some reg cab rockers that I'm going to hack up and massage to make them work there. Along with the rest of the rockers, partial front fenders and cab corners. I got my stuff from mill supply.

How good are you with sheet metal? You could make them if you have the patience and access to some sheet metal tools, rollers, brake, shear, etc.

I checked it inside and out the only part that rotted out was the outer panel but who knows rust works in funny ways. So does the reg cab rocker panel look like it will work with some cutting? Way it is from the factory looks like they just put an extension on for the club cab with a lap joint. my guess is that the rocker panel at any point would be the same. You wouldn't by any chance have a P/N for the panels you got? And where from?

I am going to repair mine this fall. I bought my rockers from Mill Supply as well. I bought 2 for each side, I am basically cutting the leg off that runs into the cab for the rear portion. Does not seem like too big of a deal. Make sure you get cab corners too as they may have caught the cancer...

Pretty much what I'm going to do, basically take 4 OE style rockers and piece them together. My 120v Miller mig welder should do a nice job welding everything together.

dont buy from ccg truck there are many bad reviews and complaints to them with orders never shipping including mine and never a refund also they wont answer the phone

with that said i found it really easy to make them by hand i took a 6x12 22ga steel bent a 3/4" lip on the long edge, then clamped it to the bottom of the rocker and beat and bent it into shape. next i cut out the old steel put the new piece in (trimmed and bent it a bit more). i did all this with 3 pairs of vicegrips, flux core welder, angle grinder, hammer, and a $5 auto body toolkit from harbor frieght.

you dont have anything to lose if you go this route cause if you mess up you can go buy the full replacement panel

Dude,

That thread was from 2006 I doubt he still has the truck.
...because the truck likely finished rusting down whilst he was awaiting an answer
