My turbo went to heaven this morning (see help forum) and I was wondering if I should try to repair it (if it's repairable) or replace it, and with what?????
I need help on this one

I think that's a personal opinion, what do you want ?... HTT has some nice options or you could get a cartridge and keep on trucking...

My self i thing its time for a better turbo.......if you got the cash!

then you can start adding more fuel

Couldn't tell you witch one but theres some guys out there that have done it like GLHS!
And a hole lot more that i don't know!

Maybe call HTT and see how much they would guess it would caust and compare it to a more efficient one!

I try not to ignore a good excuse for an upgrade. Sit down with a cup or glass of your favorite beverage and a pencil and paper. Jot down how much you are willing to spend and how much horsepower you would like. Somewhere in the middle will be a plan. Git-er-done

Would a stage iv with my 16cm (which I love) and a stock cartrige be smart, or is there somethingelse out there with the same bang for the buck?

With POD's, I'd go directly to something like an HTB2 or Phat Shaft. I think an SPS 62/12 or HTB2/12 would cool pretty well up to maybe 350hp on a 1st gen.

The HTT upgrade will do OK with the fuel you have. If you have plans to add more fuel, then go with a bigger turbo like gman07 said.

I pulled the turbo, and THE SHAFT IS SNAPPED! No wonder the compressor wheel hit the housing...
The exhaust wheel had a couple of pieces missing from two fins, but does not look like it hit the 16cm thank goodness.....
I guess the only thing I CAN save is the 16cm

So uh how much boost were you pushing?

Edit: I would buy a new turbo, it cost my dad about $400 to rebuild his and he caught his just as the bearings were going, the compressor wheel was just barely scraping the compressor housing. So with a snapped shaft I can't even imagine what the cost would be!!

I was pushing about 34psi, but I was getting heavy mid-throttle pulse, and I think that did her in.

I think it is time for a new turbo. I wouldn't rebuild unless it was my only option.

If cash is short how about a used stocker off another year that pushes better numbers and then do a full re-pop upgrade on it later when cashflow is happening? I find that some things considered 'expenses' can actually become 'investments' down the road when done right....

Call or email HTT, i emailed them yesterday with question on weather the upgrade to a stage 4 or to qo with a updated turbo design!

He told me that i could by a rebuilt H1c with the stage 4 for around 8 hundred and some change!

or get a better turbo for just over 1,000 that could be updated well beyond the W1c capacity!
If i was you i thing that i would be going with an more adaptable turbo for 200 more!!!!!

Since you have the 16 cm housing and a core that price for the Stage IV is likely to be closer to $600.

They estimated $660 for mine, but it's pretty thrashed. I can't afford the 1K job so I'll be very happy with this one, and besides, it bolts right in!
