Reliable source with a good reputation for a rebuilt Getrag 360?
Hello all, new member, first post here.
I have a 1990 W350 with the Cummins and I am in need of a rebuilt transmission, mine seized up hard.
I may look into rebuilding it later, but I need this truck back on the road soon, I have a bunch of building materials to tow home.
So can anyone recommend a reliable supplier for a fully rebuilt Getrag 360?
Thanks!

Standard Transmission and Gear in FW, Texas may have one on the shelf.
Jasper could be another source for rebuilt unit.
I have always done my own or had a local shop rebuild them if I was too busy.

I did email Standard Transmission and Gear on Friday, but likely due to the timing right before a weekend, I have not heard back just yet.
As far as rebuilding it myself, possible in the future as mentioned. But working long hours with 2 hours a day going to the commute alone, I would not have the time or energy to rebuild it any time soon.
So......
I want to pull this one out while the replacement is being shipped here. :-)

I got a rebuild from an outfit in San Antonio, TX but they set the bearing preload to loose. The trans rattles at idle in neutral. I'll probably rebuild it myself if I live long enough.
I don't know how one would check the preload before installing the trans other than disassembling it and doing some measurements. If anyone knows maybe they'll chime in.

Try the salvage yards? I searched car-parts, they show used and rebuilt units.

Hmmmm, probably because they are all in a certain DTR member's collection in the North Eastern portion of the country, like the Vermont area...
Midwest Transmissions may have something, I have not done business with them, but it may be worth a phone call.

Finding 5 speed 4x4 Cummins transmissions has gone from difficult too down right near impossible...
The last good shifting Getrag 4x4 I bought came all the way across the country from Washington last month. It happened to be wrapped in a pretty clean W-250 as well. Thanks Vern!
I don't even have any ready to go 4x4 Getrags I would want to sell by themselves right now.

I have 5 nice Getrag 5 speed 4x4 1st gens. One crew cab conversion, one Ramcharger conversion, two W-250 reg cabs and my '93 2wd to 4x4 and auto to manual swap on a club cab I am half through right now.
Hoarder or not, how dumb would it be to sell my last, ready to use, spare 4x4 Getrag transmission? It is VERY likely I will need it for one of those trucks in the next 10 years.
Some stuff just isn't for sale, Ben I am sure you can relate.
I like to keep a spare motor, and even more so a ready to use transmission with a spare fresh clutch on hand for my 1st gen line up. My trucks have many interchangeable, major parts as they are mostly Getrag shifted 5 speed 4x4 trucks with 3.54 gears.
