registration fees

just got curious as to what everyone else pays for truck registration elsewhere, here in cal, commercial weight is administered, at 9300 lbs, i get sucked for 225 green backs annually, 20 year vehicle, does it get worse? im trying to get recreational vehicle status, with a permanantly mounted camper, totally plumbed thru the bed, and have been denied twice, still not sure if ill save that much, ive heard of other trucks getting the reduction with just a campershell, should probably try a different dmv.

My old 85 Mercedes was about that! $4 for every $1000 of original purchase.... it was $35,000+ in 1985.... I paid $500 for it though

My trucks are about $90 or something

Should come up here to socialist BC, Canada with a provincial run insurance corporation...I pay $close to $1000 a year to fully insure my truck, and that's with a 43% reduction in cost due to years of safe driving!!

Just renewed mine this week, 3/4 ton class here in PA is $153.00.
As much as I hate it, it sure seems more reasonable than many other states.

An added plus, our rural region of the state still does not require smog tests.

Are we talking vehicle registration of insurance?

They just increased our fees to help bail out the state.

http://matadorsmoneymatters.com/cali...ees-increased/

I have a 1991 D-350 Dually and my 2010 tags cost $106.00

The receipt that you got from the previous owner for your $500.00 truck determines how much your tags will cost when you register it into your name.

If we are talking insurance, I have full coverage and extended liability, low deductible, truck rental and I do not pay very much.

We've got two things going in this thread.

In PA:

REGISTRATION - registration, license plate and title - $153.00 per year
I understood the initial question to be about registration, not insurance.

INSURANCE - liability insurance (insures the other guy's property, etc.) is different for each company and driving record, and is required by the state. My truck liability insurance is around $350.00. (Multiple vehicle policy, clean driving record with 3 cars and 2 trucks, some low mileage - total cost is around 1,650 per year)
Collision (insures damages to my vehicle) would be more.
Of course if you finance the vehicle, the bank requires full coverage, liabilty and collision.

If you can, shop around. They told me $2300 was the cheapest they could go for me... period. I got a $1500 qoute from another company and then they mysteriously was able to get it down to $1200.... then the other company counter offered $1050! I had to spend about a week and a half haggling for this! And actually, having 2 vehicles made it CHEAPER. I had them list the Utility bed as my primary vehicle since it cost's less than the TDI.... brought thr price down several hundred dollars. I took the Dodge off once accidentally and it skyrocketed up to over $1500 again!

We definately are talking about 2 things at once here though.... Registration AND Insurance.... luckily no one has asked me for those 2 things lately

I just renewed my registration in AZ 28 dollars for emissions test and 19 dollars for registration. Here in AZ registration price us based on actual value via Kelly blue book. So if you want to register a 1967 Shelby AC Cobra, it is 19 dollars, regardless that the value of the car is around a million dollars. I pay about 600 dollars a month for insurance, but that is a balloon policy that includes my home, 5 cars and 2 motorcycles...Mark

Here in Ontario it's like $36 a year for my plate stickers, it covers registration stuff if you need to make any changes or whatever. It's about that much to buy plates too but you only do that once in the entire time you own a vehicle unless someone steals your plates lol or you want custom ones.

Insurance is $1094 a year for me on my truck. I have full coverage in every sense of the word. I think 2 mil liability too.

My D250 is registered as a Farm Truck in rural NE Tx.
Registration is $54/yr and minimal insurance is $33.84/mo - I pay-as-I-go.

Nice thing about Farm Tags is I an pull anything I can get to roll -
whether it has lights or not and brakes or not. I've seen some farmers towing dual tandem wheel trailers with rolls of hay stacked 4 high and no electrical connection to the the trailer .
Not sure if I'd try that !

In Wisconsin our 16' flatbed was almost $300. We decided not to pay it and it hasn't moved since.
