Put in a NAPA BHAF last night, can you say Flying Fortress?
I like it (got tenitis anyway), but may have to douple the interior insulation for the passengers. Anyway.... I used some permatex on the air hose to help seal/secure it. It is just restin where the air box sat. I am looking into the "Old Smokey", searching for pictures. In the mean time what is another good way to secure it? I did not use the threaded rod, but may look into modifying this, don't really trust the metal band by itself. Also, need to tap gauge, light wires to a hot source. Any tips before I butcher it? Thanks guys.

Don

Been searching without luck.... can somebody provide a link to a picture of the "Old Smokey"? Also, would a 2nd gen air intake boot fit our turbo?

Found Smokeys pics on another sight, still wondering about the late model boot though.

Redleg,
For gauge lights I spliced into the instrument lighting circuit in the back of the fuse block. Sorry, I don't remember the wire color! I've heard of someone using the ashtray light circuit.

Re:Ref; BHAF

Hey guys... back to afternoons today. They're bouncing me all over the place.

Thanks Big Red, I guess I can try the ash tray, I plan on putting a couple other gauges there anyway.

Mike, I'm real interested in your set up, but first I'd like to find out about the 2nd gen boot. If I can mount the filter in the 2nd gen location, relocate the washer reservoir, I'd like to use the space left for a storage box. I'm use to having an extended cab truck w/topper, not a reg cab flat bed. You thought about making a shield for that location?
Thanks, Don

Don,
I haven’t made a heat shield/mount for the 2nd gen location because I like the stock location. It allows for cooler air and greater pressure. I am always interested in new ideas though. If you go that route let us know how it turns out.

Mike
Re:Ref; BHAF

Mike I was looking it over this weekend, and it would take quite a bit of work to rig something that would clear the hood spring. It might be do-able, but it would take time I don't have at the moment. Anyway, I also lost my headlight this weekend. Filter bounced up front and robbed the plug. Shorted the low beam. I have it secure for now, but will probably order a mount from you next week. Got to get a couple big purchases out of the way first.
Thanks again, Don

Hi Don,
I tried to send you a message but it wouldn't work. So I posted it below.

I'm not sure about the guidelines pertaining to selling stuff in the non "Product/Accessory" forums so I thought that maybe we should discuss this though messages.

I will be moving away for the summer this Sunday. I wont be able to make the mounts while I am gone. But, I should have one left over if you decide to get one. If you have any questions just let me know.

Mike
