Thanks a lot for the visual and the info. Did yours come off a duel wheel? I know only what this post has taught me about the Dana 80 so I am looking for all the info I can get.

You will also need new u-bolts now is a good time to upgrade to 5/8. Dont worry about the rwal

Be sure to snag the spring plates from the 80 also. the 80 has 4" axle tubes whereas the 70 has 3 1/2 inch tubes, also if you can keep all the brake lines attatched to the 80 also this will make you life a lot easier when you go to swap, I used everything off the 80 even the rubber line that drops down from the frame
Do you know if my duel rims will fit over the 80s drums or just fit in general? Thanks.

No my axle was not a drw it came out of a srw 2wd 97 2500 with a stick

The thing with the wheels is the 1stgen wheels are a coined wheel and are designed for a 5/8 stud wheras the 2nd gen wheels are a flat face wheel and use a 9/16 stud

IIRC, I shortend my shaft 1 1/4 and I shortend the old mans shaft 1 1/2 and now I am running a standard length shaft on account of the lift I have on my truck

The RWAL should plug in. Get the plug with the 80 if you can, then you can just splice it in.

Your rims will fit over the drums.

I have been looking all over. The one that is local is a SRW. Most I seem to find are SRW axles, what is the difference? Some that I have found are disc and not drum, will both work? The prices I have found are from $750-$1500 and all are in the central and western states, is there any one here on the east coast? Also are the only years that will work 94-02 or what is the newest year I can go to? Will the Chevy and Ford axles work? Thanks again!

SRW axles are narrower. Your truck was originally a chassis cab? If so, that is helpful. SRW 2nd gen axles are a couple inches wider than SRW 1st gen axles. Chassis cab 1st gen duallies are 5" narrower than 1st gen dually pickups. So your drum to drum width is gonna be pretty close to right.

Discs are fine and would be a nice upgrade. But you'd want to change the master cylinder too.

Have you looked at car-part.com?

I would have to assume it was a cab and chassis. The company that I bought it from had a enclosed utility bed on it and used it to carry there equipment for drilling wells. I am going to call my friend and have him take a few measurements for me.
Car-part.com is the site that had a few of them, I did another search and found some in the surrounding states at better prices. Now I just need to pick the correct one?
Some of them say 3.55, should I assume they mean 3.54s, or is this another option?
