I was looking at the raybestos 1961r drums. they have a 14 in outside and 6.29 total depth which seems right. Does anybody know if this will work for the one tone upgrade?

Those are the ones you want for either size shoes.

Are you going with the Dodge 1-ton wheel cylinders or the larger GM 1-ton wheel cylinders? If you want maximum rear stopping power, go for the GM units. The only modification required is to re-bend the rear brake line so that it screws in straight instead of at an angle like the Dodge units.

Also, don't forget to rebuild or replace the self-adjusters on the rear. Nothing worse than having to crawl under and readjust them manually every few thousand miles (ask me how I know) after putting on new drums and shoes.

And don't forget to paint every little peice and part in that rear brake system, to scare away RUST. every spring, bolt, clip etc. etc.

If you can weld or know someone who can and will you could purchase the weld on rear disc brake brackets and purchase all the parts required for rear disc brakes for $300. It took me an afternoon to weld the brackets and install the brakes. It was absolutely the best upgrade I have made to the truck.

I thought about the disk brake conversion but figured the larger shoes and one tone cylinders would be enough. I think I will probably get the chevy wheel cylinders too. thanks again everyone.
