1991 Cummins stat specs from NAPA:

1991 318/360 gasser stat:

Both of these were taken from their listing for a 1991 Dodge W250 4x4 truck.
Ok that's right, Chrysler changed the t-stat housings and stat among many other things after the 70's. My thinking on the 94-98 12 valve t-stat was based on using a late 70's small block t-stat in my crew cab.

After reading your earlier post, to comment on the t-stat's 'bypass closure disc', technically I can see where it's important. But when I used the small block t-stat in my 90 CTD in my crew cab I was even thinking about it. I used a 195* NAPA t-stat iirc. No issues, warms up normally, no overheating with plenty of towing to 20k pounds.

I didn't even realize that . .I thought it was big blocks had a bigger one...lol

I wondered how much effect the bypass disk would have looking at things myself, considering the mighty B series & IHC V8 are the only engines I have ever personally worked on that use one and all the others that come without it don't overheat. The MOPAR small block has a huge bypass hose too.

ya i shaved down the diameter of the t stat.
we did clean out the hosing with a pneumatic brush, just to get some of the grime off and all that good stuff
