racing idle

I've done a bit of reading on here, and will check my throttle linkage tomorrow, but thought I'd better throw up my question while i've got the computer up and runnning.

just in the last couple days, my truck has started to *race* at idle... as though the idle screw had been jacked way up while I wasn't looking. (I've messed with it in the past, and I've been messing with my TPS, which might be dead as well...) but it's like the someone took a couple inches out of the throttle cable or something. I can't drive under 25mph now without my foot on the brake.

what the heck is going on? Could my veg oil system have screwed the injection pump? but wouldn't that make it run slower, not faster?

I've got the tps back where I had it before I messed with it (long story there) and the idle speed screw is WAY down... and my initial once over didn't see anything wrong with cable, linkage, cruise control wires, etc....

what the heck?

Tys

It sounds like you didn't get the TPS back in the hex hole on the throttle shaft right and it was binding. I've done it once myself and seen it done by others.

The other place to look for a bind is the bellcrank where the throttle cable transfers motion to the throttle rod. The shaft on that bellcrank can get rusty and bind up. A little polisihing and a coat of high-temp grease will make it better than new.
