Quick headstud question

If one decides to upgrade their headstuds how much more performance can they expect to get?

Kind of a vaguely worded question.

I guess what I want to know is.. if you can boost 40 psi with XX turbo on the stock headgasket and studs, how much more boost can you add when you upgrade the headstuds?

I've seen a p-pumped engine hit 1,100 at the wheels with o-rings and 625 ARP studs, and nothing else (long block-wise)

Yeah get head o-ringed while you have it off, and while your at it unshroud the valves and maybe do some mild porting to the runners, after all nobody wants to lift 150+ lbs off their block more than one time. As for having studs, from what i've read on here its a valued upgrade if you want to make power.

I may be mistaken John, I think I remember hearing your valves will start to float above 40psi as well? Unless you've done 60lb springs already...

The head studs just make it so the motor can take more boost. They do not make the motor make any more boost. I aint sure about the valve float. I thought that only had to do with high rpm or an exhaust brake but I could be wrong. If you make 40 psi now the head studs aren't gonna change that. They just make it safer.

I have no idea how much O-ringing your head cost, but I believe you can use the stock head studs with the o-rings and push your boost much higher, but safely still.
