Q for those who have done NV4500 4x4 swap
I blew the getrag that came in my pu. that i bought new in 92. I managed to get about 30,000 miles out of it from new. It made a hell of a bang and locked into 3rd gear so i replaced it with a NV4500. Yes i pulled loads with my pu, and it blew after pulling a load from Alaska to Mi., after i put a Banks stage 3 mod on the truck. (i was in Mi. when it blew)
When i was at my dealer in Alaska back then, i saw them replaceing getrags left and right under warr... on pu's that came to Alaska pulling camper trailors... I wonder how many $$ that tranny cost Dodge in warr. back then???

The one in my 93 had a lot of play in the shaft and wore out my 3rd and 4th gear fork. Lost both gears, but going from 2nd to 5th isn't bad when you have a Cummins.
Just replaced what bearings without a press that I could and wala, no play.

The first one started making major bearing noise when i got near 300HP.
The other one popped out of fifth and lost most the forward gears. I nursed to back to town at about 40 MPH on the interstate.

All of the warranty claims didn't cost dodge anything in the end, because all liability and $$$ cost was then forwarded to the manufacturer/reman facility that were setting up the trannys with too much preload, not following chrysler's specs...
