Did your auto driveshaft work or did you have to lengthen it? I have read some post where the auto shafts work and then others where they had to use different shafts.

Trans is going in this week and I would like to have the shafts ready

it depends on the transfer case. My 96 auto was a dually and had a HD transfer case the 5spd I used came out of a 99. I took apart the cases to switch the shafts. My HD case on the auto had a llight duty shaft in it but it had the wider case and pto cover. both front and rear drive shafts worked just fine for me.

riddle...I would guess your rear shaft sticks out about 1.75 inches extra in the tail housing, but is still enough to work correct?

last question...what do you do with the auto gear selector? If you pull the pin out in park then wont the steering wheel lock? But if you take it out in neutral you wont be able to remove the key?

bump!

I did finally get it all done...wired up and complete with the exception of the trim and transfer case lever. I am blown away by how much power the auto sucks out of these engines. it honestly feels like I gained 50hp.

I am having a little issue with the master that I got in my swap. The rod needs to be lengthened a bit, but other then that it is in and working great.

On the one I did, I just put it in park, pulled the pin and removed the shifter handle. Putting it in park doesn't lock the steering wheel, turning the key to "lock" does.
